JJ & Melissa Alderman

Missionaries to Togo, West Africa

Our greatest privilege is joining Jesus in what He is building: His Church.

When we reach across the street and around the world with the Gospel—locally and globally—we impact lives for eternity.

A Heart for Togo

JJ Alderman grew up as a missionary kid in northern Togo from the age of six. After meeting Melissa in college and marrying in 2004, the Aldermans asked God where He wanted their family to serve. They prayed specifically about people who had the most-restricted access to the gospel and expressed their desire to develop leaders, and plant churches. It became clear and evident that God was sending them to serve among the Gen and Watchi (unreached people groups) in Togo, West Africa.

Since 2009, the Aldermans have been working in church planting and leadership development among the Gen and Watchi in Southern Togo. In the last ten years, the Aldermans have been praying that God would send more missionaries to continue advancing the gospel and He has been answering their prayers! There are now seven team members on the ground full-time, and many more in the process of joining the 6 Degree Initiative as full-time missionaries.

JJ, Melissa, and their three precious little girls are seeing lives radically transformed by the gospel on a regular basis. People are being discipled and churches are being planted…they are watching God do a truly great work. They are praying that God continues to build a multigenerational, multicultural team in Togo, to reach those who have never heard the good news of the Gospel.
